Lemurcon 97 Images!

Blue Devil in a box - The first Aye-aye ever to be born in captivity.

Canoupous - The world's friendliest Black-and-white lemur, also having a snack.

Some Lemurcon participants, enjoying the lemurs in one of the large Natural Habitat Enclosures (NHE-1)

A typical view inside one of the NHEs.

Jay Furr - Looking rather depressed that the energy-output of the charcoal wasn't quite enough to melt the grill.

A Lemurcon 97 group picture - From left to right - Top: Maria Drago, Burton Strauss, Jane Strauss, Randy Lambert, Renee Bosler (a.k.a.: lemurgirl), Alayna Baldanza, Dr. Ken Glander (DUPC's Director), Kevin Kearny - Bottom: João de Souza, Cameron Wallace, David Witzel (back), Jay Furr (front), Vance Kochenderfer.

When Maria and I first tried to walk into the cage where Gordian, our adopted Sifaka was, we were a little intimidated. Initially, he just tried to ignore us. But, eventually, he was happy to see us, but not quite as happy as Jovian.

Romeo - Everyone's favorite. He is the only Diadem Sifaka in captivity in the world.

Okay, make that several Ringtails on the road.

STINKFIGHT!

The stinkfight get carried over to the branches.

A Ringtail baby, looking quite scared by the stinkfight. There is no reason thou, since these fights a non-violent. Humans cannot smell it, but it has quite an interesting effect on Ringtails.

Baby ringtails having another ball.

Ringtails wrapped around in a ball. (I count five tails)

B. Strauss, D. Witzel, and V. Kochenderfer poking the animals. (note Jovian just above David's head, taking aim). Incidentally, for those concerned, Burton is not really poking the animals, just pointing at the tag on the door.

Dean Gibson, DUPC's operations manager, taking us all on a tour. Next year I'll make sure to get a picture where we can actually see her. All we can see is a little head, growing below Jay Furr's chin.

After Lemurcon 97, on the drive back home, Maria and I made a little stop at Vance's house in scenic Havre de Grace, MD. And yes, we did see the Locally World famous Duck Decoy Museum! I was so moved, that I couldn't even hold the camera straight.
